Hi, I’m Amy!

13 things about me:

  1. I was born and raised in Seattle. 98125, baby! And love the Seahawks and Kraken.

  2. I’ve been photographing weddings for 20 years and have a degree in commercial photography from the Art Institute of Seattle.

  3. I’ve been on the board of HopeChest, an annual charity wedding rummage sale since 2018. Ask me about donating your wedding decor!

  4. My boyfriend and I have three lunatic parkour goblin cats named Doug, Charlie, and Lazlo.

  5. I love strong coffee, smooth whiskey, and Russian River pinot noir.

  6. I am a proud left-hander and MINI owner: my license plate is LEFTY.

  7. I’m a total animal nerd and was a volunteer at Woodland Park Zoo for over 20 years.

  8. I don’t really know how to “relax”, but I do love a good murder documentary.

  9. I have an unhealthy relationship with exclamation points, and typically feel compelled to remove several before sending emails.

  10. I get summoned to jury duty more than anyone you’ve ever met. Seriously. I once received a new summons at the same time I was actively serving on a jury.

  11. I love to travel (especially for weddings!) and Scotland is my favorite place on Earth.

  12. I love 90s pop/hip-hop and will absolutely stop our conversation mid-sentence to start reciting lyrics if I hear Juicy or I Want it That Way coming from the dance floor.

  13. I’ve been told I’m an expert gift giver, but I think it’s just my ADHD superpower of retaining oddly hyper-specific knowledge of someone which isn’t useful for much else. I’m terrible with names, but I will remember that you collect quirky antique oil paintings and will find one with what will be an incredible likeness to your beloved Shih Tzu, Abner donning a top hat and monocle.

So, here’s the “Friendtographer” story:

Contrary to popular belief, I wasn’t the one who originally came up with the title. It was actually one of my brides.

I was shooting a wedding in Maui a couple of years ago, including a few pre-wedding events leading up to the big day. The bride (shout out to Payton!) had been introducing me as her photographer, but after getting to know each other, that seemed far too formal. So she began introducing me simply as her friend. However, then no one realized that I was also her wedding photographer! So she combined the two and from that day forward, being a friendtographer was my thing.

It was the perfect hybrid, and honestly how I’d felt all along about my ideal clients.

When I become a part of your wedding experience, you’re automatically adopted into my Friendtography Family. It’s that feeling of “wait, are you my photographer or are you my friend who’s taking my photos?” that makes the relationship with my clients so awesome. All of my Friendtography clients are more than clients. They are amazing people who I can see myself being friends with for a lifetime. Several of my closest friends, in fact, are people I never knew before that initial wedding inquiry and I’m incredibly thankful for each and every one of them. I love meeting new clients because it’s always a mystery who’ll be the next couple I find myself laughing with over beers and a game of Catch Phrase two years from now.
